Animations

The following are first person weapon animation works I have done

for mods I have made for a game called Fallout: New Vegas.

All of them are created using Autodesk Maya.

Laser Array

(equip, unequip, idling, firing, reloading, jamming)

My very first attempt at creating first person animation for a gun. Everything was relatively stiff, but the process of creating it was very fun, which has compelled me to create more later down the line.

Rail Driver

(equip, unequip, idling, firing, reloading (tactical + empty + extended mag alt), jamming)

My second attempt I have picked up a rather unorthodox weapon that looks VERY different from a traditional gun, and it did took me a few minutes to figure out what I want the animation to look like. The style I went for in the end is that I want everything to feel heavy to sell this weapon’s impact.

.410 Varmint Shotgun

(equip, unequip, idling, firing, reloading (tactical + empty), jamming)

Something more traditional with more components to work with, mostly the reciprocating bolt. How this 3D mesh was arranged means I can’t really pull the bolt too back without the spring popping out from the back of the gun, so I spent some time thinking how to make it look good with a bolt that has a relatively short travel distance.

Mauser Machine Pistol

(equip (+ empty alt), unequip, idling, firing, reloading (tactical + empty + extended mag alt), jamming, inspecting (+ empty alt) )

My most complete animation set yet, with some animations having alternative states based on the gun’s condition: is the mag empty and does it have the extended mag attachment installed. I strife for my future animations to be of equal complexity or above.
